Dear Minister Zhang Fusen,
We, the undersigned, call upon you and your government to unconditionally release Yao Fuxin and Xiao Yunliang and failing that to immediately release them on medical parole.
Both men are reportedly to be very ill, suffering from chronic illnesses which have not being successfully treated in prison. Neither men are able to receive the full and proper medical treatment needed for their illnesses while in prison and their condition is rapidly deteriorating.
Xiao Yunliang is now blind in both eyes, his stomach and face are severely swollen, signs of potentially fatal live or kidney disease and he is unable to sleep, breathe and eat normally. Xiao has also been found to have arteriosclerosis of the aorta, liver & gallbladder stones and chronic superficial gastritis but no medicine has been provided.
Yao Fuxin continues to suffer from life threatening high blood pressure, intermittent heart failure and continues to lose consciousness. He has lost the use of his right leg and the hearing in his right ear.
We urge you to release both men on immediate medical parole, according to the Chinese Criminal Procedure Law and the relevant regulations on medical parole, so that they can receive the correct medical care.
