Thousands of mainland travellers cross through Hong Kong's Huanggang Port late on Halloween weekend

Thousands of mainland travellers crossed through Hong Kong's Huanggang Port late on Saturday night, 31 October, with many still wearing Halloween costumes. According to the "Port Info" webpage, average immigration waiting times at all land border checkpoints were normal as of 11:30 pm.

From 11 pm onwards, the number of people in the departure hall at Huanggang Port gradually increased. Travellers described the crossing process as smooth, praising the "cooperative inspection, one-time release" immigration arrangement for its convenience.

One traveller said the port's 24-hour operation made cross-border travel easier, which was why they came to Hong Kong for Halloween events. Another traveller noted they were not worried about long queues at the border, but were concerned about the Shenzhen metro's last train departing around midnight, so they returned early to ensure they could get home.

The government stated that Huanggang Port would give priority to public transport. Authorities have coordinated with public transport operators to increase service frequency, including the B13 bus route, which runs directly from Hong Kong Island to Huanggang Port. A new overnight special route, B13S, will also be introduced, departing from Central and stopping at two or three intermediate points before heading directly to Huanggang Port, to help manage passenger flow.

At Shenzhen Bay Port, crossing hours were extended by two hours until 2 am on Sunday, 1 November, and relevant cross-border shuttle bus services were also extended.
