The Hong Kong Immigration Department announced on 6 October that eligible Hong Kong residents can now register to use the "joint inspection" e-lanes at the Huanggang port, which will reopen after reconstruction. Registration can be done through the department's "Hong Kong e-chanel" mobile application or at the port itself.
Residents aged 18 or above have four registration options. Besides the mobile app, the other three methods are available at the Huanggang port: the e-lane registration office, the joint inspection e-lanes themselves, and the port's self-service kiosk.
Assistant Director of Immigration Wang Qi said the "Hong Kong e-chanel" app is an updated version of the "touchless e-chanel" system. The public can register through the app, and parents can also register children aged 7 to 17 by entering the child's Hong Kong identity card number. He encouraged the public to pre-register for the joint inspection e-lanes via the app.
The department stressed that before using the joint inspection e-lanes, users must have completed registration for mainland China's express lanes. For eligible mainland visitors aged 18 or above, registration can be done at the Huanggang port's e-lane registration office or at the joint inspection e-lanes themselves.
