Hong Kong's Chief Secretary Chan Kwok-ki said on 7 November that the government is expanding youth internship and training activities in key fields including finance, aerospace technology and artificial intelligence, as part of efforts to help young people serve the community, the economy and the nation.
Speaking at a youth development forum, Mr Chan said the city's first five-year plan and the policy address both prioritise youth development, including proposing the establishment of an “International Youth Talent Exchange Base” to help young people engage with the world.
Mr Chan noted that the government's Youth Development Blueprint has implemented nearly 300 measures, including holding an annual Youth Development Summit. He said the authorities will continue to deepen patriotic education among young people and help broaden their international perspectives.
The forum brought together officials and youth leaders from Hong Kong, mainland China and several other countries and regions. Mr Chan said the forum's theme emphasised having the courage to explore new frontiers, embracing emerging fields such as artificial intelligence and cultural innovation, and turning uncertainty into opportunity.
