APEC delegates get taste of Hong Kong culture and cuisine
Delegates at the APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting enjoyed cultural tours including the Xiqu Centre, dim sum classes, the Peak and Ocean Park. Chief Executive John Lee and Finance Minister Lan Foan hosted a welcome dinner on Tuesday.
Delegation members attending the APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting in Hong Kong were treated to a wide range of experiential and cultural activities designed to showcase the city's heritage and unique character, organisers said.
The programme incorporated elements of Chinese culture alongside distinctly Hong Kong attractions, giving participants a chance to appreciate the city's cultural legacy. Some delegates boarded sightseeing buses in the evening to visit the Xiqu Centre, where they enjoyed traditional Chinese opera performances.
A series of guided tours and study visits were also arranged, allowing participants to sample local experiences such as dim sum-making classes, trips to Victoria Peak and visits to Ocean Park.
On Tuesday evening, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu and China's Minister of Finance Lan Foan jointly hosted a welcome dinner for representatives from APEC member economies and international organisations.
The meeting brings together finance ministers and central bank governors from the 21 APEC member economies to discuss regional economic cooperation and policy coordination.
