Update: 148 miners die at coal mine explosion, three still missing

As of 5pm on 29 November, the death toll of the explosion at Dongfeng Coal Mine in Heilongjiang Province has risen to 148 and three other miners are still missing.

Rescuers retrieved the bodies of two female workers in the ground generator on the afternoon of 29 November, according to state media.

Altogether 221 miners were working in the pits when the explosion occurred at 9.40pm on 27 November at the coal mine, run by the Qitaihe branch of the Longmei Mining Group Co. Ltd in Heilongjiang.
