Three killed and five others injured in fireworks blast in Guangdong Province

Three people were killed and five others injured in an explosion in the Baoman Firecracker Factory in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province on 4 April at around 11am.

According to the local police as reported in Xinhua, the firecracker factory was owned by five people. The eight victims were four workers and four managers, including a female manager.

A female worker at the plant reportedly said that when she came back from fetching her child, she saw a huge hole in front of the unit, and a manager and his wife lying injured on the ground.

Local fire fighters attributed the explosion to violations of safety rules.

The five injured have been reportdly been taken to hospital for treatment and an investigation is underway.
