Zhang Junjiu Meets ITS Visitors

Zhang Junjiu, vice chairman and first secretary of ACFTU met the General Secretary of ICEM and other members in the delegation in Beijing on September 26.
ICEM is one of the most important ITSs in ICFTU. It has more than 20 million members in 404 member organisations in 11 countries. The delegation led by General Secretary Higgs is ICEM’s first ever visit to China.
Chinese trade unions are willing to further engage in dialogue and exchanges with ITSs, Zhang Zunjiu said. It is hoped that Higgs’s visit would initiate further mutual cooperation, and the Chinese trade unions are positive with the prospect of such cooperation.
From the brief contact with the officials of the Chinese trade unions in his first visit to China, General Secretary Higgs felt that they were highly open-minded and fully capable. They will work well in solving the problems in the workers’ movement, Higgs said.
Xu Xicheng, vice chairman of ACFTU attended the meeting as well.
