A coal mine accident took place on 21 September at the Dongfanghong mine in Jiangxi Province killing nine workers and injuring one other.
The accident reportedly occurred when a steel cable broke as the carrier was transporting 10 miners through the main entrance of the mine. All the miners fell to the pit bottom and nine were killed.
Dongfanghong is reportedly an authorized state-owned coal mine.
