Lan Kwai Fong sees 30-40% revenue rise over past two weekends
Lan Kwai Fong Association director Cheung So-mui reports a 30-40% revenue increase over the past two weekends, with 50% growth expected on Halloween night. Local customers account for 70% of business, while visitors from the Greater Bay Area have notably increased.
Lan Kwai Fong Association director Cheung So-mui has reported that the entertainment district recorded a revenue increase of at least 30 to 40 per cent over the past two weekends, ahead of Halloween celebrations. She expects a 50 per cent rise in takings on 31 October, with bars and restaurants having prepared sufficient drinks and ingredients in advance.
Cheung noted that this year the Hong Kong Tourism Board launched the first 'Hong Kong Halloween Month', which introduced Halloween activities earlier than usual. The response, she said, has exceeded expectations, making this year's Halloween the busiest in recent memory. Local customers remain the primary market, accounting for about 70 per cent of business, with the remainder coming from overseas and mainland Chinese visitors. She highlighted a noticeable increase in guests from the Greater Bay Area, attributing this to convenient transport links.
Many visitors have dressed up elaborately to enjoy themselves in Lan Kwai Fong, creating a vibrant atmosphere, Cheung added. She said that while some bars and restaurants have reserved seating for walk-in customers, all other tables have been fully booked.
Reflecting on this year's experience, Cheung said the association will work to strengthen packages combining hotels, dining and transport to attract more inbound tourists. The aim, she said, is to encourage longer stays and boost overall spending.
