KMB explores restricted-area routes for pet-friendly bus expansion
Kowloon Motor Bus is studying new suburban routes for its pet-friendly service, including destinations in restricted areas, after the Lantau Island route attracted over 30,000 passenger and pet trips in two years. The operator plans to increase service frequencies after autumn.
Kowloon Motor Bus (KMB) is exploring new suburban routes for its pet-friendly bus service, including potential destinations within restricted areas, the operator announced at an event marking the service's second anniversary.
Since its launch, the pet bus service has attracted over 30,000 passenger and pet trips, and KMB now plans to increase service frequencies and study the expansion of its route network, the company said.
The operator stressed that its Lantau Island pet route has consistently received an enthusiastic response. KMB committed to increasing service frequencies after autumn, promising to add more weekday and weekend departures as demand grows.
“Our goal is to bring pets and their owners to locations that are otherwise difficult to access,” a KMB representative said.
Currently, KMB’s pet buses welcome all breeds of pets on board. The operator assures passengers that proper segregation measures will be implemented to ensure different types of animals have sufficient space and remain comfortable during their journeys.
