Hong Kong's East Tsuen Wan Reservoir East Dam and Po Pin Chau section fully booked for next two days
The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department reports that the East Dam and Po Pin Chau section of the Tsuen Wan Reservoir East Dam is fully booked for the next two days. The area saw around 950 visitors on 4 Oct 2026, with numbers lower than expected due to a thunderstorm warning.
The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) said on 4 Oct 2026 that the East Dam and Po Pin Chau section of the Tsuen Wan Reservoir East Dam in Sai Kung has reached full capacity for the next two days. The department reported about 950 visitors to the site on the day, a figure lower than anticipated as a thunderstorm warning was in effect, prompting authorities to release additional booking slots.
Elsewhere in Sai Kung, Kiu Tsui Island recorded approximately 1,970 visitors on the same day. The AFCD has stepped up cleaning and enforcement at campsites in Ham Tin Wan, Long Ke Wan and Sai Wan, describing conditions as orderly.
In coordination with the Food and Hygiene Department, new intelligent eco-toilets have been installed at the Ham Tin public toilets, along with additional cleaning staff. The department noted that overall hygiene was satisfactory, with no food residue or blockages found in the wash basins.
Food and Hygiene Department personnel were on site encouraging proper use of the facilities and gathering user feedback. The department said many visitors from mainland China and local residents praised the cleanliness of the amenities.
The AFCD has also conducted joint patrols with the Marine Department, the Police Force and the Food and Hygiene Department to maintain order and remind visitors not to litter. The department said it will continue to monitor major scenic spots closely and enforce all management measures until the National Day Golden Week ends.
