The Hong Kong Housing Bureau has reminded owners of flats at Wang Fu Court to sign the sale agreements for their units before the deadline. The government said it will consider individual cases with special circumstances, such as unresolved ownership or prolonged estate-probate processing, on a case-by-case basis, prioritising compassion, reason and law, with compassion first. Affected owners will be notified before the deadline.
The 'Special Sale Scheme' for Wang Fu Court owners began the flat-selection process on 29 September. Applicants who have completed the sale agreement have legally confirmed the sale of their ownership interest to the government and will be invited to select flats. The Housing Bureau has been sending invitation letters in batches based on a computer-generated random draw, and applicants are expected to attend selection sessions on dates and times specified in their letters. The entire selection process is expected to be completed by the end of November.
Owners who have not yet signed the sale agreement due to special circumstances but complete the signing before the selection period ends will still be invited to select a flat. If the ownership of their Wang Fu Court flat has not yet been transferred to the government, the Housing Bureau will reserve a new flat under the scheme for them during the selection stage. The formal purchase agreement or provisional sale agreement for the new flat will be signed only after the ownership of the Wang Fu Court flat has been transferred to the government, either by the Hong Kong Housing Authority or the Hong Kong Housing Society.
With the deadline approaching, the Housing Bureau's 'Explanatory Team' is stepping up efforts to contact owners who have not yet signed the sale agreement to provide assistance. The team will maintain communication with Wang Fu Court owners. Owners with enquiries can contact their assigned 'Explanatory Team' staff or call the hotline at 2129 8133.
