Driver injured as box truck overturns after hitting barrier in San Po Kong
A box truck overturned after crashing into a barrier on Prince Edward Road East early on Wednesday, injuring the driver. The accident happened around 4am near Rhythm Garden. The driver was trapped briefly but freed himself and was taken to hospital with head and limb injuries.
A box truck overturned after crashing into an impact-absorbing barrier in San Po Kong early on Wednesday, injuring the driver. The accident occurred around 4am as the truck travelled along Prince Edward Road East towards Kwun Tong.
Near Rhythm Garden, at the fork between Prince Edward Road East and the Kwun Tong Bypass, the truck apparently lost control and hit the barrier before overturning. The driver was briefly trapped inside before climbing out. He suffered injuries to his head and limbs and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital conscious.
Photos from the scene showed the truck lying across the lanes of Prince Edward Road East, with severe front-end damage, a detached wheel and parts scattered on the road. The barrier was also badly damaged. Sources said the truck was delivering goods to convenience stores.
