93.2 per cent of Wang Fuk Court owners sign sale agreements before deadline
Hong Kong's housing authority says 93.2 per cent of owners at Tai Po's Wang Fuk Court signed sale agreements by the deadline, covering 1,850 of 1,985 flats. The government will continue processing title transfers and will consider exceptional cases individually.
The Housing Bureau said on Friday that the deadline for owners at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po to sign agreements to sell their flats expired on Thursday, with 1,850 of the 1,985 households, or 93.2 per cent, having signed the sale agreements.
A spokesman said the government will continue to follow up at full speed on the deed transfer procedures to complete the ownership transfers.
The spokesman added that some owners failed to sign before the deadline due to special circumstances, mainly because they needed more time to clarify or handle ownership issues, including probate, bankruptcy, ownership disputes or cases involving persons with mental incapacity, or because owners were outside Hong Kong.
He noted that similar special circumstances would also arise in private market transactions, and said the government would handle each case on its merits, taking into account reason, law and, above all, compassion, with appropriate arrangements made on a case-by-case basis.
