Hong Kong's Labour Department held the 'Chill Market 2026 – Youth Entrepreneurship Practical Day' to provide young people with hands-on retail experience. The event allowed business members of the Youth Employment Service (Y.E.S.) to set up retail stalls for free and operate various self-employment businesses.
After selection interviews, 25 groups of applicants were accepted this year. They received training courses, pre-event one-on-one consultations, on-site guidance and post-event reviews from Y.E.S. and professional consultants.
The market featured 25 stalls selling handmade and creative products, including handmade accessories, cultural and creative items, crochet products, rock colour art and scented candles. Visitors received tokens after making purchases, which they could use to take part in on-site booth activities. The public could also vote on-site for stalls in categories such as 'most attractive product', 'most distinctive stall decoration' and 'best customer service', and received souvenirs.
Y.E.S. also set up a counter at the venue to introduce its one-stop integrated employment, training courses and self-employment support services, which are free for members aged 15 to 29. Eligible young people who registered for membership on-site received a welcome gift. Further details are available on the Y.E.S. website (www.e-start.gov.hk).
