Chinese envoys to visit Middle East and Africa for peace talks this month

China's Foreign Ministry announced on 2 November that several special envoys and representatives will travel to the Middle East and Africa this month to facilitate peace talks and reduce tensions. The visits follow a series of proposals by President Xi Jinping to promote peace and security in the Middle East and four principles for constructive engagement in resolving African hotspot issues.

The Chinese government's special envoy for Middle East affairs will visit Iran, Oman and Saudi Arabia in the first half of November. The special representative for African affairs will travel to Ethiopia, Djibouti and Egypt during the same period. Meanwhile, the special envoy for the Horn of Africa will visit Eritrea in the first 10 days of this month.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said the simultaneous dispatch of envoys to different regions aims to promote peace talks, de-escalate tensions, and play a constructive role in maintaining regional peace and stability.

The ministry did not disclose specific dates or details of the envoys' agendas. The visits come amid ongoing conflicts and instability in parts of the Middle East and Africa, where China has sought to position itself as a mediator and advocate for peaceful resolution of disputes.
