Bank of China (Hong Kong) reported an after-tax profit of HK$35.13bn for the first three quarters of 2026, a year-on-year increase of 9 per cent. The bank declared a third interim dividend of HK$0.29 per share.

Pre-provision net operating income for the period rose 2.3 per cent year-on-year to HK$58.65bn. Net interest income increased 12.9 per cent to HK$43.12bn. After accounting for funding income or costs from foreign exchange swap contracts, net interest margin widened by 1 basis point to 1.55 per cent.

Net fee and commission income for the first three quarters fell 7.6 per cent year-on-year to HK$8.44bn, mainly due to a high base in the prior year. Net impairment provisions stood at HK$4.13bn, down HK$998m from a year earlier.

For the third quarter alone, after-tax profit was HK$10.77bn, down 9.2 per cent quarter-on-quarter. Net interest income rose 3.6 per cent quarter-on-quarter; after accounting for funding income or costs from foreign exchange swap contracts, net interest income rose 0.9 per cent. Net interest margin narrowed by 3 basis points to 1.52 per cent, attributed to a steeper market interest rate curve and intense deposit competition, which put pressure on funding costs.

Net fee and commission income in the third quarter fell 17.7 per cent quarter-on-quarter, mainly due to lower loan commission income.
