Technical Officer (Laboratory)

A Technical Officer (Laboratory) is mainly deployed on: (i) sampling and testing construction materials (including soil and rock); (ii) compiling and analysing test results; (iii) preparing test certificates; (iv) calibrating and checking equipment; and (v) assisting in the training of junior staff. Successful candidates appointed may be seconded to other government departments, and may be required to work irregular hours and perform outdoor duties. Candidates should have (a) obtained a Diploma or Higher Certificate in Civil Engineering from a Hong Kong polytechnic university/polytechnic, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education or a technical institute/technical college, or equivalent; (b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [Note (1)]; and (c) a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (BLNST) [Note (2)].
