The Labour Department expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended its heartfelt condolences to the worker's family.
A department spokesman said inspectors were immediately dispatched to the scene to launch an investigation. The department issued a 'suspension of work notice' to the contractor concerned, ordering a halt to the erection, alteration, dismantling and use of such work platforms on the building's exterior until the contractor can demonstrate that adequate measures have been taken to eliminate the relevant hazards.
