Woman found dead in tent at Sai Kung campsite

A 38-year-old woman was found dead in a tent at a campsite in Sai Kung on Thursday night. Police responded to a family report of possible suicide and discovered her unconscious with a basin of burnt charcoal. A post-mortem will determine the cause of death.

A 38-year-old woman was found dead in a tent at a campsite in Sai Kung on Thursday night, police said.

Police received a report from the woman's family around 9.15pm expressing concern that she might attempt suicide. Officers and rescuers went to the Tai Mong Tsai campsite near Chi Lit Path and found the woman, surnamed Lau, unconscious in a tent with a basin of burnt charcoal beside her.

Rescuers confirmed she was dead at the scene. Police cordoned off the area for investigation. The cause of death is pending a post-mortem examination.

Sources said the woman had recently been troubled by work problems.
