Tin Shui Wai flat fire leaves 67-year-old woman unconscious with burns
A fire at Kingswood Villas in Tin Shui Wai on Saturday forced about 100 residents to evacuate. A 67-year-old woman was found unconscious with burns and taken to hospital. Police said an aroma diffuser may have accidentally ignited clutter.
A fire broke out at a flat in Locwood Court, Kingswood Villas, Tin Shui Wai, on Saturday afternoon, prompting about 100 residents to evacuate, the Fire Services Department said.
The department received a report around 5.30pm of a unit on fire and smoke billowing out at Block 14. Firefighters deployed one jet and a breathing apparatus team, broke into the flat and extinguished the blaze.
A 67-year-old woman surnamed Ng was found unconscious inside the unit with burns to her hands and respiratory tract. She was taken to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment.
Police said initial investigations suggested an aroma diffuser accidentally ignited clutter. There is no evidence at this stage that the case involves criminal elements, they added.
