The incident occurred near 8am inside the tunnel. One of the private cars sustained severe damage and was left stranded across two lanes. No injuries were reported.
The slow lane of the Wan Chai-bound tube was temporarily closed following the accident, causing heavy traffic congestion. The tailback extended to Wong Chuk Hang Road near Ap Lei Chau Bridge Road.
The affected lane was later reopened, and the congestion gradually cleared.
