Hong Kong's public broadcaster RTHK and Tianjin Haihe Media Center signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on 3 November, laying the groundwork for cooperation in programme resources, talent exchanges, platform cooperation, copyright and event broadcasting.
RTHK Deputy Chief Executive Officer Kwan Yuen-yee and Tianjin Haihe Media Center President Ma Bo signed the agreement, according to a government press release issued on 4 November.
Tianjin Haihe Media Center oversees newspapers, radio, television, websites and new media operations in Tianjin. The MOU is expected to help RTHK distribute its quality programming to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, while allowing the Tianjin media group's content to reach overseas audiences through RTHK's platforms.
Kwan said RTHK has signed MOUs with eight different media organisations in mainland China and overseas so far this year. She said the broadcaster is deepening ties with partner broadcasters as part of a strategy to leverage Hong Kong's unique role as a domestic-international hub, enhance the city's global communications capability and tell the stories of the nation and Hong Kong effectively to the world.
