National security AI learning platform launches in Hong Kong schools

A national security education platform developed jointly by the Hong Kong Police Force and Hong Kong Qianfan Technology has been introduced in schools for the new academic year. The NSmarties AI Interactive Platform uses real-time generative artificial intelligence to create an immersive learning environment covering 20 fields of the Holistic Approach to National Security, according to a statement from the force.

Students can use the platform to create personalised storybooks and short videos, and test their knowledge through interactive quizzes. The platform features voice narration from Secretary for Security Chris Tang Ping-keung and Commissioner of Police Joe Chow Yat-ming, who explain legal and security concepts for young learners.

The initiative has the full support of the Education Bureau and the Sisters of the Precious Blood. Deputy Commissioner of Police (National Security) Kelvin Kong Hok-lai and Sister Agnes Au Yi-man, superior general of the Sisters of the Precious Blood and supervisor of Precious Blood Primary School (South Horizons), attended the launch event with about 700 teachers and students.

Chow said it was important to instil national security awareness at all ages, and urged all sectors of society to work together to safeguard Hong Kong’s prosperity and stability. Sister Au praised the platform’s use of artificial intelligence and interactive content, saying it transforms passive learning into active engagement and encourages participation by both students and parents.

As part of the launch, attendees toured the NSpeed National Security Express Promotional Truck. The school principal announced plans to incorporate the AI platform into the school curriculum to ensure national security education deepens within the campus community.
