Ming Kee Fish Shop in Mong Kok ordered to close for 14 days

The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) has ordered Ming Kee Fish Shop, a fresh-food store at 22 Tong Mi Road, Cheung Hoi Mansion, Block F, to suspend operations for 14 days from 29 October to 11 November.

An FEHD spokesman said the shop's licence holder was convicted twice by a court in January and September this year for food-safety violations and fined a total of HK$5,200. Under the department's demerit-point system, the shop accumulated 30 points, resulting in a 14-day suspension.

Last year, the same licence holder was convicted twice in July and September for similar offences and fined a total of HK$4,800, also accumulating 30 points. That led to a seven-day suspension of the shop's licence in December last year.

The spokesman reminded all food business operators to comply with the Food Business Regulation, warning that licences could be suspended or revoked for non-compliance.

Licensed food premises are required to display their licence and a notice confirming their licensed status in a conspicuous place. The public can also search for licensed premises on the FEHD website.
