Man restrained by police in Mong Kok street in video

A video circulating online shows a man being restrained by police officers in the middle of a road in Mong Kok, Hong Kong. The footage, whose source and date could not be confirmed, captures several uniformed and plain-clothes officers pinning a man in a dark top to the ground at the junction of Dundas Street and Reclamation Street, pressing him onto a yellow box junction.

After the initial restraint, the officers moved the man from the road to the pavement outside an empty shop. They set up a cordon around the area. The video shows the man sitting on the ground inside the cordon, guarded by officers. One officer helped the man put his shoes back on, while another searched him.

At one point in the footage, the man became agitated. Officers raised their voices, telling him to cooperate. Bystanders stopped to watch the incident. One woman was heard asking: "What's he doing? Smuggling drugs?"

The footage does not show why the man was restrained. It could not be confirmed whether drugs were involved. The police have not released an official statement on the incident as of publication.
