Hong Kong to impose special traffic arrangements in Shek O and Big Wave Bay on 7 November

The Hong Kong Transport Department announced on 5 November that special traffic and transport arrangements will be in place for Shek O and Big Wave Bay on 7 November. The measures aim to manage expected heavy traffic during an event in the area.

From 6am to 11pm on 7 November, several roads will be closed in phases. The affected roads include Shek O Shan Chai Road, Shek O Village Road, the section of Shek O Road between Big Wave Bay Road and Shek O Shan Chai Road, and Big Wave Bay Road.

Citybus routes 9 and X9 will have their bus terminus at Shek O temporarily relocated to the Shek O Beach public car park from 6am on 7 November until 1:30am the following day. The department said these two routes may see increased services depending on passenger demand during the event.

The department warned that traffic in Shek O, Big Wave Bay and the roads leading to those areas is expected to be heavy during the event. Due to the temporary road closures and the suspension of some parking spaces, the public is urged to avoid driving to the affected areas and to use public transport instead.

Motorists are advised to remain patient in case of traffic congestion and to follow police instructions. For full details of the special traffic and transport arrangements, the department directed the public to its website, the 'HKeMobility' mobile app and media announcements.
