Hong Kong leader says young people at centre of five-year plan and policy address
Hong Kong leader Lee said the city's first five-year plan and latest policy address put young people at the centre, as the world rapidly changes. He said the Northern Territories development will bring high-value jobs for young professionals.
Hong Kong leader John Lee said the city's first five-year plan and its latest policy address both put young people at the centre, as the world undergoes rapid change. Speaking via video link at a youth summit on 5 October, Lee said geopolitical tensions, fast technological progress and economic uncertainty were reshaping the world.
Under the "one country, two systems" principle, Lee said Hong Kong occupies a unique position between the nation and the world, serving as a "super-connector" and "super value-adder". He said Hong Kong is thriving amid the changes.
The five-year plan was announced last month, along with the latest policy address. Lee said both documents align with the nation's development strategy and place young people at the centre.
Lee also highlighted the Northern Territories development, which covers about one-third of Hong Kong's land. He said it will become a hub for education, technology, industry, talent and liveability, and will bring high-value job opportunities for young professionals.
