Hong Kong investment agency aided 550 firms in first nine months
InvestHK helped about 550 overseas and mainland Chinese companies set up or expand in Hong Kong in the first nine months of 2026, bringing an estimated HK$70 billion in initial investment, Director-General Katrina Liu said.
Hong Kong's investment promotion agency, InvestHK, said it helped about 550 overseas and mainland Chinese companies set up or expand in the city in the first nine months of 2026, bringing an estimated direct investment of more than HK$70 billion (US$9 billion) in their first year of operation.
Director-General Katrina Liu said the agency's support does not end once companies are established. It continues to help them build local networks, find partners, and prepare for the next stage of growth, including expanding into international markets. Liu noted that through a dedicated programme for mainland enterprises going global, InvestHK has supported more than 300 mainland companies to set up or expand in Hong Kong, many of which expressed interest in using the city as a springboard for overseas expansion. The agency has also organised over 20 promotional events attracting more than 5,000 corporate representatives.
The Hong Kong FinTech Week, jointly organised by the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau, the Commerce and Economic Development Bureau, and InvestHK, will be held from 2 to 6 November. The event is expected to attract more than 45,000 participants from over 120 economies, over 1,000 speakers, more than 800 exhibitors and start-ups, and over 30 delegations from mainland China and overseas markets.
Liu said this year's event will focus on three key engines: “Finance+”, “AI+” and corporate “going global”. This reflects Hong Kong's strategic direction of driving innovation and economic development, promoting industrial transformation, and supporting enterprises to expand into multiple overseas markets. The event will bring together global innovators, investors and companies to accelerate the internationalisation of businesses and seize new opportunities.
