Hong Kong and Shenzhen discuss new Huanggang checkpoint opening

Hong Kong's Immigration Department said it held a working meeting with Shenzhen authorities to discuss the upcoming opening of the Huanggang checkpoint, with both sides continuing in-depth discussions to optimise and implement various clearance details to ensure seamless checkpoint services.
Immigration Department Deputy Director Cheng Wo-mok met Shenzhen Border Inspection General Station Deputy Chief Zhou Dazhi and Huanggang Border Inspection Station Deputy Chief Lv Hongan at the Huanggang checkpoint on Wednesday. The two sides exchanged views on the "cooperative inspection, one-time release" clearance procedure, discussing the latest passenger and vehicle出入境 processes to improve the collaborative working mechanism and clearance efficiency between Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
The Immigration Department said that to ensure flawless operation after the checkpoint opens, the meeting reviewed contingency arrangements again, exchanging views on situations such as passenger flow peaks and sudden system failures, coordinating joint contingency strategies and command coordination mechanisms for both sides.
The department said it is closely monitoring passenger flows in the early stage of the checkpoint opening and has prepared sufficient staffing, with frontline personnel ready to be flexibly deployed to provide guidance and assistance to passengers at the scene.
