The Hong Kong Land Registry announced on 3 November 2026 that all types of property sales contracts lodged for registration in October totalled 5,795, a decrease of 10.0 per cent from September and a fall of 19.4 per cent compared with October 2025.

The total value of those contracts was HK$50 billion, down 6.5 per cent month on month and 13.6 per cent year on year. Residential contracts accounted for 4,512 of the total, dropping 5.2 per cent from September and 21.0 per cent from a year earlier. The value of residential contracts reached HK$42.3 billion, a decline of 9.5 per cent month on month and 17.1 per cent year on year.

The 12-month moving average of sales contracts in October stood at 7,566, down 1.5 per cent from September but up 16.7 per cent compared with the same month in 2025.

The Land Registry noted that residential figures exclude transactions under schemes such as Home Ownership Scheme, Private Sector Participation Scheme and Tenants Purchase Scheme, unless the resale restriction period has expired and the premium has been paid.

Public searches of the Land Registry in October numbered 418,352, a decrease of 9.6 per cent from September but an increase of 6.6 per cent year on year. The searches include counter services, self-service terminals and the Integrated Registration Information System online service.

The Land Registry explained that because documents may be lodged up to 30 days after a transaction, the registered figures generally reflect property transactions from the previous month.
