The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in Brussels has presented its first Hong Kong film programme at KINO cinema in Rotterdam, showcasing 15 classic films spanning from the 1980s to the late 2010s. The programme, titled "Hong Kong Stories: Lives in Times of Change," features films including "C'est la vie, mon chéri," "A Simple Life," "As Tears Go By," "Autumn Moon," "Chungking Express," "The Dangerous Class," "Infernal Affairs," "July Rhapsody," "Mad World," "Made in Hong Kong," "Killer Butterfly," "Nomad," "Rouge," "Driverless," and "Still Human."
The selection includes performances by internationally renowned Hong Kong stars such as Andy Lau, Anita Mui, Leslie Cheung, Maggie Cheung, and Tony Leung, whose enduring appeal has captivated audiences worldwide for decades.
At the opening reception on 9 October, HKETO Deputy Representative Tsoi Yuen-shan thanked KINO for its careful film selection and promotion efforts. She noted the programme had received enthusiastic responses across various channels, particularly on social media, reflecting Hong Kong films' broad appeal in Europe. The HKETO will continue to build platforms for European audiences to experience Hong Kong's cinematic creativity.
Citing the "Eurasia Cultural Exchange Film Production Funding Scheme," Tsoi said the Hong Kong government actively promotes international cooperation in the film industry. The Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency will establish a support unit for overseas film productions, offering one-stop services for crews shooting in Hong Kong. "I encourage everyone to make use of these resources and Hong Kong's comprehensive support to realise their film projects here," she said.
Tsoi also mentioned that Hong Kong recorded nearly 50 million visitor arrivals in 2025. She highlighted the government's commitment to enhancing tourist experiences, with "film plus tourism" becoming a key initiative to promote Hong Kong's rich film culture. She invited European travellers to visit Hong Kong and experience its cinematic heritage firsthand.
