The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) operating fund announced its annual results on 28 October. EMSD Director and General Manager of the operating fund, Poon Kwok-ying, said the fund had continued to support the community in responding to extreme weather and various emergencies over the past year. It also helped client departments successfully organise major events including the 15th National Games.
Poon said the fund actively promoted digital transformation and the application of key technologies such as artificial intelligence among client departments, laying the groundwork for future AI- and advanced-robotics-driven operation and maintenance strategies. During the year, the fund deepened cooperation with the mainland in areas including “AI+” applications, regional connectivity, innovative technology and talent development, contributing to national development with its professional knowledge and practical experience.
“Looking ahead, we will continue to promote the development of artificial intelligence, MEP synthesis and open building information modelling to foster innovation and technology applications, improve energy efficiency and ensure the fund’s stable growth,” Poon said. “We will keep playing the role of ‘innovation enabler’ by demonstrating the unlimited potential of digital and green transformation in real-world scenarios through the application of AI and digital construction methods, encouraging client departments and the electrical and mechanical industry to keep up with the times and dare to innovate.”
The fund’s report was submitted to the Legislative Assembly on 28 October and has been uploaded to the EMSD website (www.emsd.gov.hk/tc/publications/emsd_reports/emstf_reports/index.html) for public reference.
