Happy Valley race days: special traffic arrangements from noon or 6pm

Hong Kong police have announced special traffic and transport arrangements for race days at Happy Valley Racecourse, effective from noon for daytime race meetings or 6pm for evening race meetings, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced on 4 November 2026.

Before the first race, the southbound carriageway of Yuen Yuen Road between Queen's Road East and the uphill slip road outside the Hong Kong Jockey Club will be closed, except for vehicles heading to Aberdeen Tunnel. The southbound carriageway of Yuen Yuen Road between Shan Chun Road and the uphill slip road outside the Jockey Club will become a one-way northbound road.

Vehicles travelling eastbound on Queen's Road East towards Wan Chai and Happy Valley must turn left onto Morrison Hill Road. Vehicles heading south on Morrison Hill Road towards Happy Valley must use Sports Road and Yuen Yuen Road. No vehicles, except those heading to Aberdeen Tunnel, may turn right from Queen's Road East onto Yuen Yuen Road.

Vehicles coming from the Harbour Tunnel towards Queen's Road East must use the southbound Canal Road Flyover, the downhill slip road to Morrison Hill Road, then turn right at the junction of Yuen Yuen Road and Queen's Road East. Vehicles from the Harbour Tunnel towards Happy Valley or the racecourse must use the southbound Canal Road Flyover, the downhill slip road to Canal Road East, Morrison Hill Road southbound, Sports Road and Yuen Yuen Road.

Approximately 35 minutes before the final race, additional closures will take effect: the uphill slip road of Yuen Yuen Road leading to Aberdeen Tunnel outside the Jockey Club; the southbound carriageway of Yuen Yuen Road between Queen's Road East and the uphill slip road to Aberdeen Tunnel; the southbound carriageway of Yuen Yuen Road between Shan Chun Road and the Jockey Club public stand; and the southbound carriageway of Morrison Hill Road between Leighton Road and Queen's Road East. About ten minutes before the final race, the southbound carriageway of Yuen Yuen Road between the uphill slip road to Aberdeen Tunnel and the Jockey Club public stand will also close.

Learner drivers are banned from turning left from Caroline Road onto Leighton Road, and from entering specified roads including Shan Kwai Road, Shan Chun Road, Percival Street, Canal Road East, and the slip road from Gloucester Road to Canal Road Flyover, from one hour 30 minutes before the first race until one hour after the final race. Parking spaces on the southbound carriageway of Yuen Yuen Road between Sports Road and Blue Pool Road will be suspended from 11am to 7pm on daytime race days and from 5pm to 11.59pm on evening race days. Illegally parked vehicles will be towed or ticketed without warning, police said.
