HKHS warns public of scam site using fake AI chatbot for Fanling project

The Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) has issued an urgent warning after discovering a fraudulent website that falsely claims to represent the organisation. The deceptive platform specifically poses as an artificial intelligence receptionist for the society's housing project on Pak Wo Road in Fanling, attempting to lure internet users into interactive chats with an unauthorised virtual customer service agent.

Housing authorities said cybercriminals are trying to exploit the organisation's public profile to engage unsuspecting visitors and harvest sensitive information. The perpetrators created a fraudulent domain designed to imitate official communications about the Pak Wo Road development. The site incorporates an automated chatbot interface disguised as a legitimate customer service tool.

HKHS clarified that the fraudulent domain has no connection with the organisation or any of its businesses, housing projects or community services. To protect the public, the society has formally reported the incident to the Hong Kong Police Force for criminal investigation.

The society strongly appealed to the public to exercise high vigilance and refrain from visiting the suspicious web address. Residents were explicitly reminded never to disclose personal data, bank account information or passwords on unverified digital platforms. Anyone with doubts about the authenticity of communications or online platforms should verify information through the official HKHS website or contact the organisation directly via its general inquiry hotline at 2882 1717. The society also urged anyone who suspects they may have shared sensitive details with the fraudulent platform to report the matter to police immediately.
