FEHD installs smart eco-toilet in Sai Kung ahead of Golden Week
Hong Kong's Food and Environmental Hygiene Department has added a smart eco-toilet at Ham Tin Wan in Sai Kung and boosted services for the National Day Golden Week. Visitors praised the cleanliness and reduced queuing, while staff promoted proper use of the facilities.
The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) has installed a new smart eco-toilet next to the existing Ham Tin public toilet in Sai Kung and increased services during the National Day Golden Week to cope with the influx of hikers and visitors.
FEHD staff were on site on Sunday to promote the proper use of the facilities and spoke to visitors from Shenzhen and Huizhou as well as local hikers. Visitors said they were satisfied with the cleanliness and praised the work of the toilet attendants.
The new smart eco-toilet provides more cubicles and washing facilities, which visitors said helped reduce queuing time. They also noted that the eco-friendly design was meaningful for the conservation of the country park.
The department reminded visitors to keep the facilities clean, not to litter and to take their rubbish away to protect the natural environment of Sai Kung.
