A 33-year-old female domestic helper has been arrested over the alleged theft of about HK$800,000 worth of jewellery from a flat in Tung Chung, Hong Kong.
Police received a report at 9.57pm on Sunday from a 59-year-old foreign male resident, who discovered the jewellery missing from his unit at Caribbean Coast on Kin Tung Road.
After a preliminary investigation, the helper was arrested on suspicion of theft and is being detained. The case has been handed to the Lantau police district crime investigation team for further inquiries.
No further details about the stolen items or the suspect have been released at this stage.
