Car slams into road works vehicle in Yau Ma Tei, driver hurt
A white Lexus crashed into a road works vehicle on Gascoigne Road in Yau Ma Tei at about 5am on Wednesday. The car driver suffered abrasions and was treated at the scene. Police are investigating the cause.
A white private car collided with a road works vehicle on Gascoigne Road in Yau Ma Tei early on Wednesday, leaving the car driver injured.
The accident happened at about 5am. Police and firefighters initially received reports that someone was trapped, but rescuers confirmed no one was trapped after checking the scene.
Photos showed the works vehicle straddling part of the traffic lane with a large directional sign and a "slow" warning sign on its rear. The white Lexus had crashed into the right rear section of the works vehicle, with severe front-end damage, bumper and parts scattered on the road and a cracked windscreen. The works vehicle's rear also showed collision marks.
The car driver suffered abrasions and was treated at the scene. Police cordoned off part of the lane for investigation and spoke to the drivers. Both vehicles were later towed away.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
