The Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department announced on 5 November 2026 that Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki will perform at the Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall on 6 December 2026 at 8 pm. The concert will serve as the finale of the "Music盛会 2026" series, which runs from June to December 2026 and features internationally acclaimed musicians and ensembles.

Lisiecki's programme in the first half will include Martinů's Three Czech Dances, Falla's Second and First Spanish Dances, Szymanowski's Four Polish Dances, Schubert's 16 German Dances, Bartók's Romanian Dances and Ginastera's Argentine Dances, illustrating dance forms from different traditions. The second half will begin with a selection of waltzes, including Chopin's Grande Valse Brillante and two of Brahms' 16 Waltzes. Lisiecki will then perform two contrasting tangos — Piazzolla's Libertango and Albéniz's Tango — followed by Falla's Ritual Fire Dance and concluding with Chopin's Polonaise Héroïque.

Lisiecki has been praised by The New York Times for his "pure, lyrical and intelligent tone". At age 18, he received the Gramophone magazine's Young Artist of the Year award, becoming the youngest winner in the award's history, and also won the Bernstein Award that year. He performs over 100 concerts annually with leading orchestras and conductors worldwide.

Tickets are priced at HK$250, $350, $450 and $550 and are available now via Urbtix (www.urbtix.hk). Telephone bookings can be made by calling 3166 1288. For programme details and discount information, contact 2268 7321 or visit www.lcsd.gov.hk/CE/CulturalService/Programme/tc/music/programs_1949.html.

A free pre-concert talk in Cantonese, titled "From Polonaise to Libertango: Rhythms Across Cultures", will be held at 6:45 pm on 6 December in the North Meeting Room on the 7th floor of the City Hall High Block. The speaker will be composer Lo Ting-chun. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
