Asia Logistics, Shipping and Air Cargo Conference to Draw Over 2,300 Participants

The 16th Asia Logistics, Shipping and Air Cargo Conference will be held on 16-17 November at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. Under the theme “Consolidating Innovation Momentum, Achieving Sustainable Growth”, the event is expected to attract nearly 100 exhibitors and more than 2,300 participants from over 40 countries and regions, including government and business leaders in logistics, shipping, air cargo and supply chain management.

Speakers include the director of the Trade and Supply Chain Division of the Asian Development Bank, Xue Qun, vice-president of JD.com, and representatives from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific. Topics will cover supply chain resilience, green energy and digital transformation, with discussions on the latest industry trends and future opportunities.

The conference is organised by the government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. Chief Executive John Lee will attend the second day and deliver a special address. Deputy Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Jennifer Nordquist, will give a speech on deepening government-enterprise collaboration, reducing uncertainty in global trade and supply chains, and strengthening international supply chains for sustainable development.

This year’s event introduces a new green energy zone showcasing the latest developments in green energy and carbon reduction technologies. It will also hold its first “Silk Road Shipping” themed seminar, with a speech from a representative of the International Chamber of Shipping, discussing how to deepen international cooperation through the Silk Road Shipping platform.

The conference will include business matching sessions. Peter Hui, chairman of the Hong Kong Shippers’ Council, said that amid the current geopolitical situation, businesses are moving from single-source origins to seeking multiple trade partners to spread risk. He expressed confidence in the business matching sessions, calling the conference a rare platform gathering high-level business people from across industries globally.

Raymond Shing, technical director and president of green fuel and chemical operations at The Hong Kong and China Gas Company, said the mainland has abundant natural resources and the capacity to export green energy. He hopes to exchange with industry players and discuss how Hong Kong can develop into a secure, low-risk green energy trading hub.
