APEC finance chiefs to meet in Hong Kong next week

Finance ministers and senior officials from the 21 APEC member economies will gather in Hong Kong next Tuesday and Wednesday for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation finance ministers' meeting, China's Ministry of Finance has announced.

Minister Lan Fo'an will lead the Chinese delegation and chair the meeting. Vice-Minister Liao Min will deliver remarks on behalf of China. Representatives from relevant international organisations and partner economies will also take part.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the programme includes a closed-door session on Tuesday morning, focusing on informal discussions under the theme 'Driving Asia-Pacific Economic Growth in a Changing World'. A working lunch with business leaders from the Asia-Pacific region will follow, with the aim of hearing private-sector recommendations on mobilising private capital and supporting digital infrastructure financing. The formal agenda will begin with an opening ceremony on Tuesday afternoon.

On Wednesday morning, after the meeting concludes, a press conference will be held. The schedule also includes a series of visits. As the host of this year's gathering, Hong Kong, an international financial centre and tourist destination, will showcase its recent development achievements and urban appeal.
