300mm water main leak in Wong Tai Sin disrupts supply to estate
Water Supplies Department says a 300mm fresh water main leaked on Wong Tai Sin Road near Ma Hang Tsuen Road, affecting Upper Wong Tai Sin Estate. 20 water trucks and 40 tanks deployed; repairs target completion by 3am on 30 October.
The Water Supplies Department (WSD) reported on Thursday afternoon, 29 October 2026, a water main leak on Wong Tai Sin Road near Ma Hang Tsuen Road. The affected pipe is a 300-millimetre fresh water supply main that serves the Upper Wong Tai Sin Estate.
WSD said that after shutting off the valve, the on-site gushing has stopped and engineering teams are working to repair the pipe. Barring unforeseen engineering difficulties, the department aims to complete repairs and resume fresh water supply by 3am on Friday, 30 October.
To provide temporary water for affected users, WSD has dispatched 20 water trucks and 40 water tanks. Staff have also delivered water bags and bottled water to residents in need. According to the department, the temporary water supply on site is sufficient to meet demand, and residents are queuing in an orderly manner to collect water.
WSD emphasised it will closely monitor the temporary water supply situation to ensure sufficient collection points remain available until normal supply is fully restored to users.
