A family quiz marking the 160th anniversary of Sun Yat-sen's birth opens for registration on 16 October. Organised by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau and the Citizenship Education Committee, the competition invites two-member family teams in children's and junior categories to answer 20 questions
The Home and Youth Affairs Bureau and the Citizenship Education Committee have launched registration for the "Heritage and Enlightenment: 160th Anniversary of the Birth of Dr Sun Yat-sen" parent-child quiz competition. The preliminary round opened today (16 October), and members of the public are welcome to take part.
The quiz focuses on the life of Dr Sun Yat-sen and the connection between his vision and the nation's current development. Each team must consist of two family members. The competition is divided into a children's group and a junior group. Participants are required to log on to the competition website, answer 20 questions and submit an application. The deadline for the preliminary round is 6 November 2026.
After the preliminary round, organisers will draw lots to select, from each group, participants who answered the most questions correctly. They will be invited to attend the semi-finals and the final and award ceremony, tentatively scheduled for December 2026. Those attending will have a chance to take part in the final round and win attractive prizes. Winning parent-child pairs will receive places on a three-day, two-night mainland study tour.
The Citizenship Education Committee is a non-statutory body that promotes civic and national education outside schools and within the community through various channels and approaches, helping the public cultivate positive values, civic awareness and patriotic sentiment.
