Kim Jong-un visits Dandong with Chinese official Wang Huning

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, accompanied by Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, visited Dandong, according to state-run Xinhua News Agency. Kim laid a wreath at the Memorial Tower to the Chinese People's Volunteers in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea and toured the associated museum.

During their meeting, Wang said Kim's visit on the 76th anniversary of the Chinese People's Volunteers' entry into the Korean War demonstrated the value North Korea's party and government place on the blood-cemented friendship between China and North Korea. Wang stated that China is willing to work with North Korea to steadfastly implement the important consensus reached by the top leaders of both parties and countries, and to further develop bilateral relations. He also highlighted the opening of the new China-North Korea Yalu River Bridge as an opportunity to expand personnel exchanges and economic cooperation.

Kim asked Wang to convey his warm regards and best wishes to Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and president of China. Kim said his visit expressed North Korea's sincere gratitude and eternal respect for the heroes of the war to resist US aggression and aid Korea. He thanked China for its long-standing support for North Korea's socialist cause and expressed willingness to work with China to carry forward their historical friendship, expand practical cooperation, and bring tangible benefits to the people of both countries.
