Gabonese President Brice Oligui Nguema will begin a five-day state visit to China on 3 November, the Chinese foreign ministry announced on 2 November. It will be his first state visit to China since taking office.
Foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a regular press briefing that Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold a welcome ceremony and banquet for Nguema, and the two leaders will hold talks. Premier Li Qiang and National People's Congress Standing Committee Chairman Zhao Leji will also meet with the Gabonese president separately. During his stay, Nguema will attend the ninth China International Import Expo and visit Shanghai.
Mao described China and Gabon as traditional friends and comprehensive strategic partners that trust each other. She said China is willing to work with Gabon to take the visit as an opportunity to bring bilateral relations to a new level and make greater contributions to building a new-era, all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future.
The visit underscores the growing ties between Beijing and Libreville, with both sides expected to discuss economic cooperation and political coordination.
