China trade lead He Lifeng voices concerns in call with US Treasury's Bessent
Chinese Vice-Premier He Lifeng held a video call with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Trade Representative, expressing serious concerns over recent US trade restrictions. Both sides agreed to continue cooperation and manage differences under the guidance of the two countries' leaders.
Chinese Vice-Premier He Lifeng, Beijing's lead on Sino-US economic and trade affairs, held a video call with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and the US Trade Representative on the evening of 6 November, according to state news agency Xinhua. During the call, the Chinese side expressed serious concern over recent US economic and trade restrictions targeting China.
The two sides discussed the implementation of important consensus reached during the meetings between the Chinese and US heads of state in Beijing and Washington, as well as outcomes from previous economic and trade consultations. Xinhua described the exchange as candid, in-depth and constructive.
Both parties agreed to continue leveraging the role of the China-US economic and trade consultation mechanism under the strategic guidance of the two countries' presidents. They pledged to strengthen cooperation, properly manage differences, and promote the stable and positive development of bilateral economic and trade ties.
The two sides also expressed a shared commitment to helping build a constructive and strategic stable relationship between China and the US, based on mutual respect, fairness and reciprocity.
