China's forex reserves fall more than expected in September
China's foreign exchange reserves dropped to US$3.4 trillion in September, more than economists had forecast, as the US dollar strengthened. The decline came despite a slight rise in the yuan against the greenback.
China's foreign exchange reserves, the world's largest, fell more than expected in September, central bank data showed on Wednesday, as the dollar regained strength.
The reserves came in at US$3.400 trillion last month, versus US$3.438 trillion a month earlier and economists' forecast of US$3.420 trillion in a Reuters poll.
During September, the yuan strengthened 0.22 per cent against the dollar, while the greenback rose 2.06 per cent against a basket of major currencies.
