China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition to open in Zhuhai in December

The 16th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition will be held from December 7 to 13 in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, with more than 3,000 exhibits on display, about 10 per cent of which will be shown for the first time.

Zhang Hu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, executive vice governor and provincial government spokesperson, said at a press conference in Beijing that preparations for this year's airshow were progressing smoothly. The exhibition period has been extended by one day compared with the previous edition, bringing the total to seven days.

The event will adopt a new “one exhibition, three zones” layout, comprising the main exhibition area at the Airshow Centre, the Lianzhou unmanned equipment display zone, and the newly established Gaolan maritime equipment display zone, which is set up for the first time.

Nearly 1,100 enterprises from close to 50 countries and regions will participate, with more than 170 aircraft on display in the main zone, setting a new record. The Russian Aerospace Forces aerobatic team “Knights” and the United Arab Emirates Air Force aerobatic team “Knights” will perform, marking the first time since 2016 that two foreign aerobatic teams have taken part in the Chinese airshow.

Zhang said the exhibition showcases major national equipment and technological self-reliance, and the platform will be used to gather industrial resources and strengthen patriotic education. He added that the airshow will serve as a key point for bringing together high-end industrial elements, promoting open cooperation and advancing high-quality industrial development.

Gao Xiang, deputy director of the Political Work Department of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force, said the exhibition will feature both mature main battle equipment and upgraded equipment for public display. The exhibits cover areas including reconnaissance, early warning, air defence, unmanned applications, intelligent equipment and munitions, fully demonstrating the Air Force's equipment modernisation and continuous improvement of its combat system. Flight performances will follow combat-oriented formations to showcase training levels and capabilities, while the Army and Navy will also send equipment to the exhibition.
