China Import Expo to host over 4,100 overseas firms in Shanghai next month

The ninth China International Import Expo (CIIE) will be held in Shanghai from 5 to 10 November, with preparations basically complete, the Ministry of Commerce said on Friday.

Vice Commerce Minister Yan Dong told a press conference in Beijing that about 162 countries, regions and international organisations will take part, along with more than 4,100 overseas enterprises. Over 300 participants are Fortune 500 companies or leading industry players, and more than 2,000 firms are first-time exhibitors.

The total exhibition area will exceed 440,000 square metres for the first time, including a corporate exhibition space that tops 370,000 square metres. More than 480 representative products are expected to make their global debut, Asian premiere or first appearance in China, setting a new record.

Yan said this year's expo will focus on improving market orientation, distinctive features and professional standards. The national exhibition will attract 69 countries and international organisations, more than last year. In the corporate section, United States companies will occupy over 50,000 square metres, the largest among all participants for the eighth consecutive year and up 1,500 square metres from 2025. Canada and New Zealand will have their largest exhibition spaces ever at the event.

The Hongqiao International Economic Forum, held alongside the expo under the theme "Stable Cooperation, Jointly Building an Open World Economy", will include a main forum and 23 sub-forums. It will release the World Openness Report and openness index, and for the first time publish a report on export capacity development in China.
